Hello, I’m Ms. O, and I'm currently working on my MSW at USC. I’m a clinical intern at an agency that serves at-risk communities in Los Angeles. I’ve worked in early childhood education for 6 years with a Bachelor of Science in Child Development with a concentration in Counseling and Family Services as well as an A.S. in Early Childhood Education.
My work as a clinical intern is to provide therapy to children, youth, and families helping them improve their coping mechanisms to face the challenges that may arise in their lives. We work together to create plans to meet their goals that will make their home, school, and/or community life better.
As a preschool and toddler teacher, I provided children with a rich environment where the culture of the classroom allowed them to feel safe to explore and learn, and free to express themselves. Children have the right to have their needs met and provided with boundaries and appropriate expectations that will pave the way for future learning and success in their communities.
I am a strong believer in the power of books, how the messages they convey can make the things that happen in life more relatable. Books can open the mind and engage young critical thinkers. Children are motivated to learn when they have the opportunity to engage in enriching experiences and reading is definitely one of them.
I hope to share with you my love of story-telling along with a few tidbits of useful information for any parent of a young child.
You can find me on Facebook, Twitter, Tumbler, and YouTube, of course, don’t forget to like and subscribe and keep on reading.
